The Populous Coffee & Food Co.

| Brunch Bonanza |

Finding a new brunch spot is like finding a leprechaun 🍀.

The Populous Coffee & Food Co., was opened late last year by the same people behind Department of Caffeine. Nestled away in a corner on Neil Road, Populous is basically everything a good brunch spot should be. Fun ambiance, good food, cool light fixtures and a variety of dishes you wouldn’t mind putting on the extra calories for.

Get in mah bellay!

Geranium Gin & Fentimans Rose Lemonade/Wild English Elderflower (SGD $11)

The perfect way to end a weekend. Because that’s pretty much the worst time of life.

The Beef Ragu Pappardelle (SGD $20)

I’m one of the non-beef consuming Hindus, so did not have the good fortune of tasting this, But it is a slow cooked, hand-pulled, grass fed beef dish, with a rich spiced tomato sauce, combined with pappardelle pasta & shiso.

Side of Truffle Fries w/ Parmesan Cheese, Obviously (SGD $12)

Seafood Linguine (SGD $25)

Linguine braised in homemade seafood bisque (which my husband would like me to master), crab meat and scallops. You could top up an extra $10 to add on a butter poached Boston lobster tail. I don’t actually know why we didn’t do that.

Spring Pancake & Fried Chicken (SGD $22.50)

I’m obsessed with pancakes. So the more varieties I try, the better it is for my life in general. This one comes with Populous’ signature crispy fried chicken, sitting on an amazingly thin spring onion & corn pancake. The tangy house special ranch dressing with cumin, blankets the dish so unbelievably well.

Sticky Date Pudding (SGD $13)

SDP’s are my foodgasm providers. This is housemade and comes swimming in butterscotch sauce, vanilla ice cream & a cornflake crumb. I’m sitting in my awfully cold office dreaming of this 💭.

Buckwheat Pancakes (SGD $20.50)

Soft & fluffy pancakes, berry compote, passionfruit curd (😧), cornflakes, flowers & thyme infused maple syrup.

Butter Rum Banana French Toast (SGD $19)

Baked vanilla brioche, topped with banana run bananas, a pistachio crumb & greek yogurt. Oh and flowers.

Lemon & White Chocolate Sundae (SGD $14)

Get ready for this. Tahitian vanilla ice cream, fresh lemon jelly, white chocolate sauce, meringue kisses (I don’t know what that is, but who needs french kisses when meringue kisses exist?!), a white chocolate & cornflake crumble & citron mascarpone. Dude, Populous.

So we did not order these 3 heavenly items, but lucky for me, the diners on the next table did & I managed to sneakily take some mouth watering shots of them while they had visited the washroom. Thank you, whoever you were. #AllForTheGram.

Your welcome.
