“Best Place in Singapore” – Advani, 2016.
One cant really go wrong at a Californian restaurant curated by Chef Wolfgang Puck. Spago is no exception. Having dined at the one in Istanbul, I was extremely excited to know that his amazing food was available a 15 minute drive away.
Perched up on the top of the Marina Bay Sands, Spago boasts amazing views of Singapore, whether day or night. In the day, it is the perfect place to lounge and enjoy cocktails with snacks. With it being so high up, it is always breezy and never too hot. At nights, the Spago lounge transforms into one of Singapore’s most beautiful and chilled out places, with great music, energetic staff and an overall amazing vibe.
I have not had the good fortune of dining at the restaurant, but the snacks at the al fresco lounge are to die for. So much so, that we visited Spago twice in one weekend.
My top picks from the menu are: the Big Eye Tuna Tartare Cones (SGD$24) with chili Aioli, shaved bonito, scallions and masago. These are incredible. The cones are so light and crispy with a delicious sweer-sour tangy taste to them. The tuna stuffing is spicy yet juicy and an amazing treat for the taste buds.
The Chicken Laksa Spring Roll (SGD$18) is a take on Singapore’s traditional dish – the Laksa. Combine spicy coconut noodles into a spring roll and deep fry it and you get nothing but an amazing mix of flavours that mesh so well with each other. Dip your rolls into the dipping sauce made of Kalamansi, Chili Padi and Laksa Leaves.
Other favourites include the Maine Lobster Roll (SGD$ 28), Spicy Tuna Sushi (SGD$ 30) and Apple Wood Smoked Salmon (SGD$ 29).
For dessert, I highly recommend trying out the Salted Caramel Soufflé with Farmer’s Market Fuji Apple Sauce (SGD$ 24). It’s bomb.com.
The cocktails they do are great too. Try out The Tainted Love and The Garden of Eden (SGD$ 26 each).
